EDCO Collaborative has been exploring a new venture of offering quality community education courses to those who live and work in the area of our Bedford, MA location or live or work in our member communities.

As we begin to offer courses this summer, we will build a list of courses that are available on this page. Please bookmark this page and check back frequently. If you would like to teach a course, or have a request for a course offering, please fill out our form here.

CPR/First Aid

ServSafe

Dates: June 6, 7, 13, & 14  7pm-9pm (4 Week Program)

Cost: $225
Course Description:  The ServSafe® program provides food safety training, exams and educational materials to foodservice managers. Students can earn the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP). It is a nationally recognized certification and is valid for five years. The program blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience. Students learn to implement essential food safety practices and create a culture of food safety. All content and materials are based on actual job tasks identified by foodservice industry experts. Any organization or business in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts selling food is required to have someone on duty with a Serve Safe Certification. The certificate is good for five years.

Course Description:

Scratch Programming: 9:00-Noon CLICK HERE TO REGISTER*

Let’s write some code! In this class, we will use the Scratch programming language to build interactive animations, games, and more. Scratch has a user-friendly interface that provides the most fun and intuitive way to design and build custom computer programs. Through their projects in this class, participants will also develop logical thinking skills and an understanding of how computers work. No previous programming experience is necessary. At the end of the class, participants can keep copies of their programs to continue expanding their work at home.

App Inventor Studio: 12:45 to 3:45  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER*

Want to know how the apps work on your phone or iPad? Or do you already have the next great app idea, and just need to know how to make it?

This no-experience-required course course uses MIT App Inventor to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. Participants will learn both the programming and design aspects of creating great apps, and have the opportunity to build any app they can imagine with the support of Circuit Lab instructors.
